Matchday seven preview: Can Aduana Stars stretch lead?

Aduana Stars could go five points clear at the top when the Ghana Premier League enters week seven on Wednesday.

The ‘Ogya’ Boys benefitted from Asante Kotoko’s draw last weekend, and have every chance to consolidate their lead with three more points in their home clash with Medeama at Dormaa.

Kotoko, in every way, must beat Wafa at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi to keep up the chase. The Academy Boys, meanwhile, beat Tema Youth 2-1 on Sunday.

While Kotoko seek to catch up with Aduana, the Porcupine Warriors could give up their second position to Bechem United, with just a point separating the two sides. The Hunters are favourites to beat new boys Elmina Sharks at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.

Fresh from the 2-1 derby win over Great Olympics, Hearts of Oak could improve upon their sixth position when they play as guests to Tema Youth.

Reigning champions Wa All Stars, who sit fourth on the table, are set to lock horns with Ebusua Dwarfs.

Liberty Professionals, fifth on the log, are chasing their fourth win of the season in their away tie with 2014-15 champions Ashanti Gold, who suffered a 4-2 defeat to Bechem on matchday five.

Following the 2-1 reversal at Elmina Sharks, Berekum Chelsea will hope to make amends in their welcome of Bolga All Stars to the Golden City Park.

With two draws and four defeats, and with pressure ever mounting on coach Godwin Attram, bottom-placed Great Olympics have their job cut out in their home fixture with Inter Allies at the Accra Sports Stadium.
