Lagos State FA Cup: Nath Boys FC, Freestan FC win convincingly

Nath Boys FC 2-0 Valiant FC

Two second half goals from Macaulay Ekene ensured that Nath Boys FC progress to the round of 32 stage of the ongoing 2017 Lagos State FA Cup at the Onikan Stadium after beating Valiant FC 2-0 on Tuesday.

Ekene benefited from a loose ball from to slot in the first goal in the 53rd minute, and 24 minutes later, the captain doubled his side's lead.

All efforts from Valiant FC to get a consolation 12 minutes from time were unsuccessful as Nath Boys shielded their goalkeeper well enough to keep a clean sheet.

Real Carat 24 FC 2-2 (4-3) Jericho FC

Real Carat 24 FC reach the 2017 Lagos FA Cup round of 32 on Tuesday after beating Jerico FC 4-3 on penalties following a 2-2 draw in the regulation period.

Akanimo Edianaobong then gave his side the lead for the first time in the match with a tap in.

Just two minutes left to play in the match, Daniel Gold equalised for Jerico to stretch the game into penalties which they eventually lost due to their players' failure to convert their first two past Real Carat 24’s Precious Obiora.

Freestan FC 2-1 Sundex FC

Sundex FC were knocked out of the Lagos FA Cup after Freestan FC bettered them 2-1 at the Agege Stadium on Tuesday.

After a first half that produced no goals, Freestan opened the floodgate in the 52nd minutes with Adekunle Irinyemi’s effort.

With 20 minutes left of regulation time, substitute Michael Onwuka doubled their advantage but Itoro Effiong pulled one back for Sundex, which was not enough to see them avoid being knocked out of the competition.

GloriousDay FC 1-0 StarBase FC

GloriousDay FC are through to the next round of the Lagos State FA Cup after defeating StarBase FC by a lone goal.

The game was bereft of actions but a first half goal from the penalty spot, calmly converted by Hardy Chibueze, gave GloriousDay the victory.

StarBase tried their luck to come back into the game but all their efforts were futile.

Stationery Stores 2-1 G12

A rescheduled first round encounter and an eventful outing between Stationary Stores and G12 as the former clinched their progress to the next round of the competition with a 2-1 win.

On the half-hour mark, Stationery Stores missed the chance to go ahead from the penalty spot as the ball missed the target by a large margin. But in the 42nd minute, Rasaq Obadeyi restored their pride with a nice effort.

However, G12 would get their chance to equalise from the spot after a handball incident. And Rasaq Obadeyi grabbed his chance with both hands to pull them level.

Stationary Stores would have the final say when Chukwu Ogbonna’s effort found the back of the net with just eight minutes of full time.

The result sees Stationery Stores join the other teams in the second round of the competition.
