The newly promoted side Zoo Kericho won their second match of the 2017 Kenyan Premier League season by beating Western Stima at Kisumu’s Moi Stadium on Sunday.
Coming from a win against Ulinzi Stars last week, the Sammy Okoth coached outfit overcame the hosts on 2-0 margin to move away from relegation zone.
Bernard Odhiambo and Mike Madoya scored in the first-half and second-half respectively to grab all three points against the Henry Omino coached team, which has now dropped to the basement of the log.
Elsewhere, Ulinzi Stars moved from a 2-1 defeat against Zoo Kericho to beat hosts Thika United 3-2 in a league match played at Thika Sub-county Stadium.
Stephen Waruru (brace) and Daniel Waweru sealed the win in the first-half leaving Thika United to score their consolation goals in the second half courtesy of Christopher Oruchum and Francis Kinyua. The match could have ended 3-3 if Eugene Mukangula scored their 38th minute penalty.
At Chemelil Sports Complex, Chemelil Sugar and Muhoroni Youth registered a 0-0 draw in a rescheduled match which was halted by heavy rains after first-half on Saturday. The match’s ultimate score-line now remains 1-1, goals scored in first half.
Gor Mahia also won the 'Mashemeji' derby bragging rights after beating AFC Leopards 3-0 in a match played at Nyayo Stadium.
