KPL Roundup: Zoo win again as Ulinzi Stars bounce back

The newly promoted side Zoo Kericho won their second match of the 2017 Kenyan Premier League season by beating Western Stima at Kisumu’s Moi Stadium on Sunday.

Coming from a win against Ulinzi Stars last week, the Sammy Okoth coached outfit overcame the hosts on 2-0 margin to move away from relegation zone.

Bernard Odhiambo and Mike Madoya scored in the first-half and second-half respectively to grab all three points against the Henry Omino coached team, which has now dropped to the basement of the log.

Elsewhere, Ulinzi Stars moved from a 2-1 defeat against Zoo Kericho to beat hosts Thika United 3-2 in a league match played at Thika Sub-county Stadium.

Stephen Waruru (brace) and Daniel Waweru sealed the win in the first-half leaving Thika United to score their consolation goals in the second half courtesy of Christopher Oruchum and Francis Kinyua. The match could have ended 3-3 if Eugene Mukangula scored their 38th minute penalty.

At Chemelil Sports Complex, Chemelil Sugar and Muhoroni Youth registered a 0-0 draw in a rescheduled match which was halted by heavy rains after first-half on Saturday. The match’s ultimate score-line now remains 1-1, goals scored in first half.

Gor Mahia also won the 'Mashemeji' derby bragging rights after beating AFC Leopards 3-0 in a match played at Nyayo Stadium.
