Incorruptible referee Norman Matemera to oversee Gor Mahia vs Rayon Sports game

Incorruptible Zimbabwean referee Norman Matemera will be in charge of Gor Mahia versus Rayon Sports Caf Confederation Cup match on Sunday.

The morally-upright Matemera, who allegedly declined to pocket one million shillings bribe to fix a Caf Confederation Cup return match, has been assigned by Caf to oversee the weekend match at Kasarani.

The bribery incident occurred on April 18, 2018, in Bata after officials of the home team, working in cahoots with Togolese match Commissioner, Lwason Mahuwe allegedly tried to offer Matemera and his assistants Brighton Nyika, Salina Ncube and Pilan Ncube a cash bribe of $10,000 which he declined before reporting the matter to Caf.

Matemera was tempted with a bribe to fix a game between Equatorial Guinea’s Desportivo Niefang against Cote d’Ivoire’s Williamsville Athletic Club.

Matemera will be assisted by compatriots Thomas Kusosa and Luckson Mhara as first and second assistant referees respectively.

Another Zimbabwe Nomore Murambiwa Musundire, will be the fourth Official, with Angolan Inacio Manuel Candido as the Match Commissioner while Jason Joseph Damoo from Seychelles will be the Referee Assessor.

Gor Mahia are top of the group with eight points and a win over the visitors will guarantee them a place in the quarterfinal.

Both teams played to a 1-1 draw in the first leg held in May, in Kigali, Rwanda.
