High-flying Chemelil Sugar expects tough test in Mombasa

Chemelil Sugar are expecting a tough challenge away in Mombasa when they take on Bandari FC in the Kenyan Premier League on Saturday.

The Millers kicked-off their campaign with a resounding 2-0 victory over former champions Tusker last weekend.

Just like Chemelil, Bandari also picked maximum points following a 3-0 win over Sofapaka in Narok Stadium last Sunday.

Chemelil Sugar captain John Waw has warned his charges to be cautious even as he remains upbeat that the win over Tusker will play a key role in the match against the Dockers.

“The team is motivated by the win against Tusker but we are also aware that we will be playing away and so we expect a tough match against Bandari,” Waw, who is among the senior players left at the youthful Chemelil Sugar side told Goal.

Chemelil have set a top eight target this season, having marginally survived relegation last season.

“We have a young squad, but if we continue with that form, then we may finish in a respectable position. We are targeting top eight this season."

Chemelil Sugar made several changes to the squad and the technical bench that also saw coach Juma Abdallah lose his job.
