FC IfeanyiUbah's Faruq rues missed chances in MFM defeat

FC Ifeanyi Ubah defender Umar Faruq has blamed his side's profligacy in front of goal for their 2-1 loss to MFM in Wednesday's Nigerian top-flight tie.

Seka Pascal's effort cancelled out Jesse Akila's opener but Sikiru Olatunbosun's strike three minutes before the interval secured victory for Fidelis Ilechuwku's side.

And the former Kwara United player was left less impressed with his side's wastefulness in the final third.

"The game was good, quite alright," Faruq told Goal .

"I'm just sad because we were supposed to pick at least a point in Lagos and we blame ourselves because we didn't utilise our chances.

"It's a game meant to be won. The officiating was quite good but we didn't utilise our chances.

"I believe if the officiating continues like this then we can pick a point in our away games. We will get it right in our next away match.

The Anambra Warriors are currently placed sixth in the Nigeria Professional Football League log with six points from four games, and the left back is confident of a positive result in their subsequent games, starting against Wikki Tourists in Nnewi on Sunday.

"Our next match is a must win," he continued.

"I believe with our performance today, we can pick a point on the road. I believe in our squad, we're getting better."
