Athletic Club will be hoping to end a miserable first half of the season when they host Real Valladolid in their final match before La Liga breaks for Christmas.

The Basque Country outfit have suffered a spectacular fall from grace in the last two terms, finishing 16th last season and languishing third from bottom this time around after 16 games.

Real won promotion to La Liga last season and have assimilated into the top flight extremely well, sitting in 12th position thanks to a four-game winning streak, although they have since won only one of their last seven.

However, the Real Valladolid/Draw double chance at 23/20 (2.15) looks a solid value pick for this game. The Castile and Leon side have the sixth-best away record in La Liga, losing only to Real Madrid and Sevilla so far.

Away wins over the likes of Real Sociedad and Villarreal could only serve to encourage the visitors, who will move eight points clear of the relegation zone if they take all three points from San Mames Stadium.

Perhaps surprising for a newly-promoted club, Real’s home form leaves a lot to be desired compared to their road record, where they have only conceded seven goals and kept an impressive four clean sheets.

Both of those figures are tied for the best in the league and with Athletic managing just two home wins all season, there is little to suggest the Bilbao outfit can take the points here.

A braver punter may opt for the 17/4 (5.25) price on Valladolid to win but the Real Valladolid/Draw double chance at 23/20 (2.15) looks like a solid pick ahead of this clash in the Basque Country.
