Arsenal eye up Vazquez move


Arsenal want to sign Real Madrid attacker Lucas Vazquez as the replacement for Alexis Sanchez, claims Don Balon.

Alexis is desperate to leave Arsenal in the transfer window and wants to join Manchester City now, rather than wait to complete a free transfer at the end of the season when his contract expires.

A string of names has been mooted to replace the Chilean, with Madrid’s Vazquez now an option for Arsene Wenger, who feels the Spaniard has the qualities to compensate for Alexis’ departure.


Giroud wanted by Besiktas

Besiktas have set their sights on landing Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud as a replacement for Cenk Tosun, reports beIN Sports.

The Turkish side have seen their top marksman leave for Everton and are now in the market for a proven successor.

Giroud has struggled for starts this season and is eager to find regular football ahead of a possible World Cup quest with France this summer.

Arsenal new boy Konstantinos Mavropanos will be go on to be a first-team Arsenal contender, former player Stathis Tavlaridis told Goal.

"He’s a very good player with a big future ahead of him," Tavlaridis said. "But the most important thing for me is to have a good character and be a humble person if you want to build a long career. Talent is not the only important thing, good character is too.

"Mavropanos has the whole package to have a very successful career. I am sure he will go on to play for the first team because he has the personality and quality to make it."

The 28-year-old has not started a Premier League game all season and is of interest to struggling Southampton, who wish to reinvigorate their campaign by signing their former youth star.

Everton and Newcastle are also interested in the England winger.

WBA wish to sign Arsenal full-back Mathieu Debuchy, L'Equipe reports.

The France international has featured only in cup competitions for the Gunners this season and still believes that if he plays regularly he could feature at World Cup 2018 for his country.

As a result, he could be willing to move to the Hawthorns six months before his deal at the Emirates expires.

Manchester City are poised to make an opening January bid of £35 million for wantaway Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez, according to the Daily Mail.

Gabriel Jesus' knee injury has forced Pep Guardiola to reconsider a winter move for the Chilean, whom he had originally preferred to sign at the end of the season.

Arsenal turned down a £60m offer in the summer from Man City but, with fewer than six months left to go on his contract, they could lose him for free in July.


Arnaiz threatens Premier League transfer

Barcelona forward Jose Arnaiz will demand a move to the Premier League if he doesn't get more first-team opportunities, according to Diario Gol. 

The 22-year-old has impressed when given the chance with the first team this season, scoring three goals in three Copa del Rey games, but the rest of his appearances this term have been with Barcelona B. 

A host of Premier League teams, including Arsenal, Tottenham and Southampton are willing to pay Arnaiz's £20 million release clause should he move to England.


Lemar to replace Alexis at Arsenal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger hasn't ruled out a January exit for Alexis Sanchez and If the Chilean does depart for Man City in January, Wenger is ready to make Monaco's Thomas Lemar his replacement, according to L'Equipe.

The Gunners failed with a £90 million bid for Lemar in the summer and though Monaco manager Leonardo Jardim has insisted the France international is not for sale, Wenger could test his resolve should Alexis move on in January.

With Monaco out of the Champions League and PSG cruising to a Ligue 1 title, the principality side could be convinced to cash in on the highly rated 22-year-old.


David Luiz offered to Madrid

David Luiz’s representatives have offered the Chelsea defender to Real Madrid, in addition to Barcelona, reports Mundo Deportivo.

The Brazil international is looking to leave Chelsea during the January transfer window, so that he can play regularly before the World Cup in Russia in the summer.

Barcelona have already twice turned down the chance to sign the centre-half, with Madrid also offered the opportunity of a deal. Arsenal have also been linked with a January approach for Luiz.


Dortmund rival Man Utd for Malcom

Borussia Dortmund have joined the chase to sign Bordeaux’s in-demand winger Malcom, according to The Sun .

Manchester United are expected to make a £40 million bid for Malcom in January, with a view to allowing the Brazilian to stay at Bordeaux for the rest of the season.

Arsenal and Tottenham are also reported to be interested, and now Dortmund are considering an approach as they look for a long-term replacement for Ousmane Dembele, who joined Barcelona last summer.


Wenger wants Walcott to stay

Theo Walcott is still wanted at Arsenal following reports the winger is a target for his former club Southampton and AC Milan.

The winger has struggled for regular playing time this season and has been linked with a move in January amid claims he has offered himself to Milan.

A return to Southampton has also been mooted, but Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said: “I heard about that but I want him to stay.”

Wenger denies Aubameyang interest

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has ruled out a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January.

Reports had claimed that Wenger is considering an approach for Aubameyang, if Manchester City target Alexis Sanchez leaves the Emirates Stadium in the transfer window.

However, when asked about any interest in signing the Gabon international this month, Wenger said: “No, that is not a possibility.”
