Victor Wanyama expected to be fit for Bournemouth

Tottenham Hotspur are hopeful that Victor Wanyama will be fit to face Bournemouth.

The Kenyan captain was forced to withdraw from Spur’s matchday squad for their Premier League game against Watford on Saturday just before kick-off. The midfielder was originally named on the bench but he suffered a recurrence of the back injury which kept him out of the mid-week trip to Swansea during the pre-match warm up.

Wanyama was replaced on the bench by Joshua Onomah less than ten minutes before kick-off, instead, of dropping out of the team entirely. Wanyama was substituted in the first half of Spurs’ win at Burnley last weekend after he picked up a knee injury.

However, coach Mauricio Pochettino is confident that the midfield star will be available for the next assignment. “There isn’t anything for Spurs fans to worry about. Victor (Wanyama) still didn’t feel 100 per cent but I’m sure for next week he’ll be ready to be available.”
