Xhaka sent off for second time in his Arsenal career after two-footed lunge

Granit Xhaka has received the second red card of his Arsenal career following a two-footed lunge in the Premier League clash with Burnley.

Giroud makes 150th league appearance for Arsenal

The midfielder's poor pass in the 65th minute saw Burnley take possession and the Swiss international made a rash challenge on Steven Defour, forcing referee Jon Moss to decide he had to go. Luckily, Arsenal were already 1-0 up.

Xhaka had previously been sent off in October's 3-2 win over Swansea City, with Moss being the man to give him his marching orders then too.

Xhaka has now had more red cards than any other player across Europe's top five leagues, having amassed three in the Bundesliga with Borussia Monchengladbach.

That he has now been suspended with his second red card in just 20 Premier League encounters could raise some concerns for Arsene Wenger.

However, he has collected only two yellow cards in the league this season, with Shkodran Mustafi leading the way in the club's charts with four bookings to his name.

Xhaka, though, is the only Arsenal player to have been sent off in the league this term.
