In terms of selection, Luca Jaquez and Julian Chabot have been regulars in Stuttgart's pre-season backline and are tipped to start. 

Midfield orchestrator Angelo Stiller should reprise his role as the team's metronome, likely alongside Atakan Karazor. In attack, Deniz Undav and Nick Woltemade look the prime candidates to lead the line, flanked by the pace and width of Jamie Leweling and Chris Fuhrich.

For Bayern, boss Vincent Kompany could hand a competitive debut to left-wing recruit Luis Díaz, while creative livewire Michael Olise may line up on the opposite flank to supply Harry Kane. 

Unfortunately for the Bavarians, they’ll be without Jamal Musiala, whose serious injury in July’s Club World Cup clash with Paris Saint-Germain will sideline him for several months. 

Midfield general Joshua Kimmich should be a lock in the XI, while with Aleksandar Pavlović nursing an eye problem, Leon Goretzka is the frontrunner to partner him in a double pivot.
