The Kansas City Chiefs (0-2) will wrap up their 2025 preseason slate at Arrowhead Stadium this Friday, August 22, when they welcome the Chicago Bears (1-0-1).

Chicago comes in riding some preseason momentum. After opening with a 24-24 draw against Miami, the Bears steamrolled Buffalo 38-0 on Sunday. Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams impressed in his first extended action, looking composed in the pocket and confident running the offense. Against the Dolphins, the former No. 1 pick went 6-for-10 for 107 yards and a touchdown in just two series. While much of his production came against Buffalo’s second unit, Williams’ poise and progress compared to last summer have been clear signs of growth.

Kansas City, meanwhile, is still searching for its first preseason win. The Chiefs dropped their opener 20-17 to Arizona before falling 33-16 against Seattle. Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and several other key starters have yet to take the field, leaving opportunities for backups to get extended reps. Quarterback Gardner Minshew provided a highlight in the loss to Seattle, tossing a one-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter.

Here, GOAL brings you everything you need to know about how to watch New York Giants vs New England Patriots.

Kansas City Chiefs vs Chicago Bears team news

Kansas City Chiefs team news

Andy Reid has never been shy about letting his stars get some preseason work, and that won’t change here. Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Chris Jones are all expected to suit up, even if the veterans don’t necessarily need the extra snaps. Mahomes barely played across the first two games — sitting out against Seattle and throwing just once in the opener — but should get a little more run this time, though it’s unlikely he sees action beyond the first quarter.

When Mahomes steps aside, Gardner Minshew will take over. The well-traveled veteran has plenty of starting experience and is more than capable of moving the chains in Reid’s offense. Later, Bailey Zappe will get his chance to make a case for the final QB slot as he tries to carve out a place on the roster.

At the skill positions, Kelce will get his usual run at tight end, while JuJu Smith-Schuster and Isaiah Pacheco give Mahomes familiar weapons on the outside and in the backfield. The bigger question mark lies on defense, where Kansas City surrendered 33 points to Seattle a week ago and will be looking for a sharper effort this time around.

Chicago Bears team news

It’s always tricky to read too much into August football, but the Chicago Bears and rookie quarterback Caleb Williams showed plenty of promise in their last outing against Buffalo. The No. 1 pick opened the game with a flawless 93-yard touchdown march and wrapped up his night with over a hundred passing yards and a score through the air. Reports suggest he’ll be back under center in this one, looking to get one final polish before Week 1 kicks off.

Don’t expect him to play deep into the night — a couple of drives at most — but if he can string together another pair of scoring possessions, it would be another step forward in his adjustment to Ben Johnson’s new system. Chicago fans are starting to believe they might finally have the head coach–quarterback tandem they’ve long been searching for. Behind him, Tyson Bagent, fresh off signing a $16 million extension, should see extended snaps, while Austin Reed is still scrapping for a roster spot after an efficient showing against Buffalo.

Chicago’s top playmakers will get a handful of reps as well. Tight ends Cole Kmet and Colston Loveland looked sharp last week as Williams’ safety nets, while running back Ian Wheeler continues to make noise with steady production and a knack for finding the end zone.
