Premier League Betting: Liverpool 9/2 to break Manchester City points record

The 97 points Liverpool recorded in the Premier League last season was not enough for them to win the title as Manchester City pipped them by a single point.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have started this campaign with four wins from four and punters can get 9/2 (5.50) with bet365 that they win over 100.5 points in 2019-20.

That would top the 100 points that Man City reached in 2017-18 and is the Premier League record for most points in a season, with Pep Guardiola leading his side to 32 wins and four draws.

Although a gargantuan task to become just the second side to ever crack three figures, Liverpool may feel it is not beyond the realm of possibility after their exploits away from home last season.

While they were almost perfect at Anfield, taking 53 points from a possible 57, they only won three games at sides that finished in the top-10, drawing at the likes of West Ham and Everton whilst taking just six points from an available 15 against their fellow top-six sides.

Even just a slight improvement on the 44 points they gained away from home could see them crack the coveted triple-figure mark and they have already begun well with two wins from two on their travels.

The Reds will certainly target another unbeaten season in front of their fans, having achieved that in the last two campaigns, and are available at 7/2 (4.50) to make it three in a row.

No other team except Liverpool has come away from Anfield with three points since Crystal Palace won there in April 2017, when former Red Christian Benteke scored a brace in a 2-1 win for the Eagles.

Newcastle are the visitors on Saturday lunchtime and bet365 make it just 1/7 (1.14) that the Reds claim their 10th home league win in a row and 14th consecutive victory in the competition.

The Magpies can be backed at 16/1 (17.0) to claim their first win at Anfield since 1994, whilst the draw is a 15/2 (8.50) shot as Steve Bruce looks to improve on his impressive record of five wins and eight draws in his last 17 visits to the ground.
