Manchester City v Stoke Betting: Potters unlikely to improve their woeful away form against Guardiola's men

With Manchester City still fighting for silverware on three different fronts, they're in the unusual situation of playing a Premier League game against Stoke City on the same night as Champions League action is taking place.

Bet365 don't forsee too many problems for Pep Guardiola's side, going just 2/9 (1.22) on the home win. The Potters are priced at 14/1 (15.0) to leave the Etihad with three points while the draw is a 6/1 (7.0) shot with the online firm.

City's good form could go some way to explaining their short price, the hosts have won seven of their last eight games in all competitions, but perhaps Stoke's away day struggles have made as much of a contribution to their double figure quotes.

They may be comfortable in ninth spot in the Premier League but five of their last away games have resulted in defeats. What's more, they've conceded three times to Arsenal and four times to Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool in that recent run.

With that in mind, it's no surprise to see over 2.5 goals at just 4/9 (1.44) with bet365 while 11/10 (2.10) is available on the over 3.5 line. With City having hit 12 goals in their last three matches in all competitions, that could hold some appeal given their defensive issues but in the league the home side have now kept three clean sheets in their previous five encounters.

Guardiola's free-scoring side are 5/6 (1.83) to net three times or more and given Stoke's woes on the road there could be some interest in that market, bolder punters could take a smaller stake on the 9/4 (3.25) about the Potters leaking four times on another high-profile away trip.

The best bet though, could be to take up the 21/20 (2.05) on Manchester City to win on the -2 Asian handicap with bet365. This selection will pay out if the home side win by a three goal margin or more and see stakes returned if they triumph by exactly two.

Stoke's showing at White Hart Lane was dismal but that was far from a one-off occurrence against the division’s top sides and City look well placed rack up the goals on home soil.
