Leeds United v Bristol City Betting Preview: Latest odds, team news, tips and predictions

Leeds United host Bristol City in the Championship on Sunday afternoon.

Paul Heckingbottom had worked as a coach under Lee Johnson at Barnsley a couple of years ago, but now the two men meet as opposing managers at Elland Road.

Latest odds

Leeds, who see their play-off ambitions hang by a thread after gaining just one point from their last five games, are 6/4 (2.5) with Paddy Power to complete a league double over their opponents, who they beat 3-0 at Ashton Gate in October.

Play-off chasers Bristol City meanwhile are looking for a first away win in seven, which they are 17/10 (2.7) to record, while a draw is 23/10 (2.3).

Team news

The Robins have five players out injured while Nathan Baker completes a three-game suspension, so Bailey Wright is likely to start at centre-back alongside Aden Flint.

Liam Cooper and Gaetano Berardi are suspended for Leeds, for whom Conor Shaughnessy is still out injured.

Back Overs

52% of Leeds’ matches have seen Over 2.5 goals, as have 55% of Bristol City’s encounters – the Evens (2.0) about a repeat therefore represents good value and we could see even more goals here. The West Country visitors drew 3-3 with Sunderland last time out and for the more daring punter, the 66/1 (67.0) on another six-goal tie might hold appeal.

Anytime goalscorer options

The two big strikers on either side could be a real threat. Of the strikers who have made more than 10 Championship appearances this seasons, only Lewis Grabban has a better goals per 90 minute ratio than Famara Diedhiou and Pierre-Michel Lasogga – both at 0.6. Diedhiou is 9/5 (2.8) to score anytime here while Lasogga is 2/1 (3.0).

Tips and predictions

Continuing that theme, we’ll take for our best bet the 9/4 (3.25) on Over 3.5 goals with Paddy Power. With neither defence looking secure at present, we could see a classic in West Yorkshire and goal backers should be rewarded.
