Mauricio Pochettino

Latest Betting Odds: Mauricio Pochettino favourite to replace Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid

A 3-1 win over Liverpool in the Champions League final was seemingly the perfect way for Zinedine Zidane to call time on his spell in charge of Real Madrid.

Having taken over in January 2016 after the sacking of Rafael Benitez, the Frenchman has since led the Spanish giants to three European Cups, the La Liga title in 2016-17 and several other cup competitions.

The 45-year-old said "I love this club and the president who gave me the chance to play for this club and manage the club of my dreams. But everything changes and that's why I've taken the decision to leave."

The ink is barely dry on Mauricio Pochettino's new five-year contract at Tottenham Hotspur but the former Espanyol boss is being linked with a return to Spain. He's 7/4 (2.75) to be Real Madrid's next permanent manager in the latest betting.

Spurs have a return to a rebuilt White Hart Lane on the horizon of course, but if one of the biggest clubs in the world were to come calling, would Pochettino be able to resist the lure of the Bernabeu?

Arsene Wenger is currently the 5/2 (3.50) to succeed Zidane, having left Arsenal after 22 years in charge. The 68-year-old would certainly bring plenty of experience to the role but left the Emirates under something of a cloud having failed to lead the Gunners to a top four finish in each of the previous two seasons.

Joachim Low (7/1) seems an unlikely candidate to take over in Madrid after agreeing an extension to his Germany contract just two weeks ago and heading into a World Cup where Die Mannschaft will defend their crown.

Guti is 11/2 (6.50) to follow in Zidane's footsteps and take the step up from Real Madrid youth coach to taking control of the first team.

Having made 387 appearances across 15 years at the Bernabeu as a player, the 41-year-old has been in charge of the youth set up since 2013.

Chelsea's persuit of Maurizio Sarri means Antoino Conte may well be available and the Italian is priced at 7/1 (8.0) to make the move to La Liga.
