Welcome break from Plymouth! Wayne Rooney finally reunited with wife Coleen after I’m A Celebrity jungle adventure as United legend returns to Manchester

Ex-England captain Rooney was left watching on from afar when his long-time partner headed to Australia for a challenge that took the mum of four a long way outside of her comfort zone. Coleen ended up securing a runner-up finish on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here and was joined Down Under by her mother and two of her children.

Wayne had to stay behind in the UK as he is committed to a Championship coaching post at Plymouth. He has been finding the going tough there, with the Pilgrims slipping into relegation danger, and questions have been asked of his future in Devon.

In a bid to turn fortunes around, Rooney has been spending as much time as possible working on tactical plans and identifying targets for the January transfer window. He has, however, found time in his schedule to head back to Manchester and enjoy a festive evening out with Coleen.

The Rooneys have grown accustomed to spending time apart since Wayne agreed his latest managerial challenge, with 260 miles separating him from a professional base in Devon and his family home in Cheshire. He will be back on the south coast this Saturday when Plymouth play host to Middlesbrough.
