VIDEO: Mason Greenwood's hopeless attempt at darts as Marseille forward takes on James Maddison's arrow-throwing celebration rival Neal Maupay

The 23-year-old forward is enjoying a productive debut campaign at Marseille on the back of his £27 million ($34m) transfer from Manchester United in the summer of 2024. He has registered 13 goals in Ligue 1, placing him second in the Golden Boot race behind Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembele.

Greenwood is playing with confidence and has become a talismanic presence at Stade Velodrome courtesy of his ability to strike the ball with both feet and seemingly score from anywhere. Hours of practice have been put in to honing those skills.

Greenwood certainly should not give up his day job any time soon, with his darting ability leaving a lot to be desired. He has taken in a training ground match against Neal Maupay – who caused controversy during his time in England when mimicking the dart-throwing celebration of Tottenham playmaker James Maddison.

Maupay is capable of throwing a dart at a board, which is more than can be said for Greenwood. His first attempt plugged into the wall, his second failed to register a score, before another missed the target entirely.

Fortunately for Greenwood, he does not have to be good with his hands in order to star in his profession of choice. He will be back in action on Saturday alongside Maupay and Co when Roberto De Zerbi’s Marseille play host to struggling Saint-Etienne.
