  • Arteta won Best Premier League Coach award
  • Insisted that his team is "hungry to win trophies"
  • Alonso was awarded the Best Coach of the Year
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The Spanish tactician might be at his animated best on the sidelines of a football pitch or during a pep talk at halftime in the dressing room, but emerged in a completely different avatar at the Globe Soccer Awards while accepting the memento from Cesc Fabregas, after being recognised as the best manager in the Premier League for the 2023-24 season. Although Arsenal fell short by a couple of points to Manchester City in the title race, the Gunners fought until the last matchday and showed they have matured to thrive and flourish even when the stakes are at the highest.

  • WHAT ARTETA SAID

After collecting the trophy, Arteta said: "We want to win. Win, win and win. That’s what we want. We have a team full of enthusiasm and so hungry to win trophies, we believe we can do it. So we’re going to give it a real go."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

It was a special edition of the Globe Soccer Awards titled the "European Edition" where several luminaries from the continent were awarded.

Kylian Mbappe won the Best European Player of the Year while Xabi Alonso bagged the Best Coach of the Year after his stellar run with Bayer Leverkusen. Manchester City and Barcelona were named the Best Men's & Women's Club of the Year, respectively.

Harry Kane earned the Top Scorer of the Year gong for his goal-scoring exploits with Bayern Munich, while Barcelona teenager Lamine Yamal was adjudged as the Emerging Player of the Year. Europa League winners Atalanta were rewarded in the Breakthrough of the Year category.
