In an exclusive interview with GOAL, Jones was asked to pick between eight Liverpool icons across three rounds. The first pitted Steven Gerrard against Xabi Alonso, Jamie Carragher against Virgil van Dijk, Salah against Luis Diaz, and Sadio Mane against Roberto Firmino. With little hesitation, the England international put Gerrard, Van Dijk, Salah, and Firmino through to the semi-final stage.

Jones then chose Gerrard ahead of Van Dijk, before opting for Firmino over current team-mate Salah. Gerrard got the nod in the final round as Jones admitted the former Liverpool captain was his "idol" when he was growing up.

WHAT NEXT FOR LIVERPOOL?
This is not the first time Jones has snubbed Salah in public. Back in January, Jones admitted to TNT Sports that he believes former Chelsea star Eden Hazard is a "better footballer" than Salah. Still, there has been no sign of a rift between the two Liverpool stars, who are set to line up together once again when Arne Slot's team open their new Premier League campaign at home to Bournemouth on Friday.
