Unlikely Chelsea swap deal? Blues could use £100m flop Romelu Lukaku as makeweight in potential Victor Osimhen transfer

The Blues are considering a summer bid for the Nigeria international and Il Mattino reports they could offer Lukaku plus cash to convince the Serie A side to let their star forward go in the summer transfer window.

Chelsea have long been linked with a move for Osimhen but face competition from Paris Saint-Germain, who see him as a possible replacement for Kylian Mbappe. However, Osimhen is said to prefer a move to the Premier League, giving the London side the advantage in the race.

Offering Lukaku, who spent the season on loan at Roma, as part of the deal could boost the Stamford Bridge team's hopes of signing the 25-year-old. Napoli are close to appointing ex-Chelsea boss Antonio Conte as their new coach this summer and his admiration for Lukaku could see him pressure the club into accepting the English side's offer.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are on the verge of appointing Enzo Maresca as head coach after sacking Mauricio Pochettino at the end of the season and Osimhen could be his first new signing if they make progress in negotiations soon.
