Tyler Adams the next Ryan Reynolds, David Beckham & Michael B. Jordan! Bournemouth & USMNT star reveals club ownership dream

The United States international is, at just 25 years of age, a long way off having to draw up plans for retirement just yet. He is fully focused on returning to fitness at Premier League side Bournemouth, following an unfortunate run on the injury front, and earning an international recall after captaining his country at the 2022 World Cup.

Adams is, however, prepared to admit that he has long-term goals in mind, with the all-action midfielder telling Business Beyond The Game when asked if he would like to follow the lead of Reynolds, Beckham and Co by investing in a football franchise: “Absolutely. I definitely want to be part of an ownership group at one point or another. I think that your experience in the sport, specifically soccer in this case, you can have a lot of good feedback about how to grow a club. Just sports in general. I love the sport culture, the camaraderie of a team and how to grow something – specifically projects. For instance, the owner Bill Foley – who is also the owner of the Las Vegas Knights in NHL and has already had success there, now he’s taken over AFC Bournemouth and he wants to do the same thing. I think when you have a project and something that’s not already at its end point, it’s super interesting and super exciting so I would definitely want to do that.”

Adams has experience of celebrity investors at Bournemouth, where Creed and Black Panther actor Michael B Jordan forms part of the ownership team. He added on the benefits of having high-profile figures in the boardroom: “For a club like AFC Bournemouth, I think it’s an amazing collaboration that they have done with Michael B Jordan. I think everyone knows the name and his name and brand speaks for itself. He stands for someone that is trying to grow the sport as well and I think, especially in America, when you can have these huge celebrity figures try to grow the sport, it’s going to grow at an even quicker rate. I’ve had amazing conversations with Michael B Jordan and he’s everything you would expect – super down to earth, very authentic to who he is, who he comes off as, he’s an amazing person. To have someone like that as an investor in the club that you play for is very special. Not every club has that, so it’s nice to see owners that are really invested in the team and the culture.”

NFL legends Tom Brady and JJ Watt are among the other famous names to have invested in British clubs, at Birmingham and Burnley respectively, while MLS side LAFC and NWSL outfit Angel City have plenty of Hollywood flavour in their respective ownership groups – that include the likes of Will Ferrell and Natalie Portman.
