    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The report adds the 36-year-old contacted Szczesny by phone and internally pushed for the Barcelona transfer. Fellow keepers Keylor Navas and Loris Karius were also reportedly discussed, following Marc-Andre ter Stegen's patella injury, but it seems it will be the former Juventus ace who will link up with Hansi Flick's team in the coming days.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

On Wednesday, Szczesny made it clear he was open to joining the Catalan outfit.

He told Sport: "Yes, I’m now in talks and considering Barca move. It’d be disrespectful if I didn’t consider this option for my career. Barca is one of the best clubs in the world."
