Revealed: When Saudi Pro League clubs hope to land blockbuster Mohamed Salah & Kevin De Bruyne transfers amid uncertainty over Liverpool & Man City stars' futures

The high-profile duo are considered to be key targets to add to the growing plethora of superstar talent in the Saudi Pro League. Salah was the subject of a mammoth approach last season from Saudi Arabia and they may look to tempt the Egyptian once again this summer. However, according to The Telegraph, Saudi clubs are patiently monitoring their availability as free agents and will be able to speak to the playersas early as January next year.

Since the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo in January 2023, Saudi Pro League clubs have attempted to hoover up some of the biggest names in football. Salah could join his former team-mates Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane in moving to Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, Aymeric Lapote, who won the Champions League alongside De Bruyne at City, plays for Al-Nassr.

The Bosman ruling - the law that allows players in the EU switch clubs at the end of their contract without a transfer fee - was only introduced in 1995. Jean-Marc Bosman won a European Court of Justice decision to allow him to move on a free transfer from RFC Liege in Belgium to Dunkerque in France. The ruling has seen the likes of Sol Campbell, Andrea Pirlo and Robert Lewandowski all make high-profile moves to rival clubs for no fee.

Salah's season with Liverpool is finished but he has made headlines with a new shaved-head look ahead of starting pre-season. In contrast, De Bruyne has got an FA Cup final against Manchester United and this summer's European Championship still to play this season.
