  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    Asencio has been under investigation for allegedly being involved in the making and sharing of a sexual video of a minor in June 2023. The 22-year-old Real Madrid player has since been cleared of his involvement in the creation of the alleged video, but has been charged by a court in Gran Canaria for allegedly sharing the video made by his former youth team-mates Ferran Ruiz, Andres Garcia and Juan Rodriguez.

    AS now report that the defence of the victim has sought a four-year prison sentence for Asencio, as they accused the Spanish defender of sharing the video despite knowing that it was made without permission. The lawyer of the minor has requested the opening of a trial for crimes of disclosure of secrets and child pornography against Rodriguez, Ruiz and Garcia, while Asencio is facing child pornography charges.

    After the incident, the quartet were arrested in September 2023 and their mobile phones were seized by police. While the remaining three players no longer play for Los Blancos, Asencio was promoted to the club's first team in the 2024-25 campaign.

    WHAT NEXT FOR ASENCIO?

    Asencio's Madrid are set to jet off to the US later this month for the Club World Cup. They are scheduled to face Al-Hilal in their tournament opener on June 18.
