Getty ImagesRasmus Hojlund to reunite with Scott McTominay? Napoli attempting to hijack AC Milan's move for Man Utd striker after Romelu Lukaku injury blow
Rasmus Hojlund is in line for a reunion with Scott McTominay as Napoli are reportedly attempting to hijack AC Milan's move for the Manchester United striker. Antonio Conte had placed his faith in Romelu Lukaku to lead Napoli’s title defence, but that plan is in tatters after the Belgian powerhouse pulled up with a thigh problem in a pre-season clash with Olympiakos. The injury will rule him out for around three months, leaving Napoli scrambling to find a reliable replacement.

According toCorriere dello Sport, United are open to sending the 22-year-old out on loan, with a fee of €5–6m up front and a buy option in the €35–40m (£30-£34.5m/$40-$47m) range. However, Napoli aren’t alone in the chase as AC Milan’s sporting director, Igli Tare, has admitted interest in bringing Hojlund back to Serie A, confirming to Sportmediaset that the Rossoneri see the Dane as a potential addition before the window closes.
DID YOU KNOW?
United handed Hojlund a long-term contract until 2028 when signing him from Atalanta in 2023, with an option for an extra year, but his time in England has been underwhelming. The striker managed just 10 goals across 52 games last season, leaving many to question whether he has what it takes to succeed at Old Trafford.

Hojlund, of course, is no stranger to Italian football. His breakthrough came at Atalanta, where he impressed enough to convince United to spend big on him. That past success makes Serie A a natural landing spot once again, with both Milan and Napoli confident he can rediscover his scoring touch back in familiar surroundings.
