  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    In a two-legged victory over the Black Stars, where Kundananji scored the winning goal in the first match, the 23-year-old was stretchered off just after the 60th minute mark of the return fixture. Unable to walk on her own, she left the ground in tears with what ESPN reported as a knee injury.

    Zambia's progression will see them meet Morocco in the final round in April for a chance at playing in this Summer's Paris Olympic Games.

    Kundananji recently broke the women's transfer record with her blockbuster move to Bay FC. The NWSL expansion side forked over $788,000 for the Zambian striker, making her the centerfold of the club. Now, however, after suffering the setback while on international duty, her status for the club is now uncertain to begin the season.

    The Bay FC megastar will now be evaluated by the medical staff of Zambia and likely the NWSL side too, as they determine the severity of the injury. Bay FC make their debut on Sunday, March 17 against Angel City.
