'No excuse' - Vinicius Jr attempts to manifest Bernabeu miracle in rallying cry after Real Madrid's crushing Champions League defeat at Arsenal

Madrid are on the verge of crashing out of the competition after a Declan Rice double and a strike from Mikel Merino saw Arsenal take a comfortable lead from the first leg of the quarter-final in north London on Tuesday.

It will take an incredible comeback for the defending champions to book a place in the semi-finals and keep their treble hopes alive, but Brazilian star Vinicius says they have "no excuse" as he demanded they put up a struggle until "the very end" when the two sides meet again in the Spanish capital next week.

He wrote in an Instagram Story: "There is no excuse. Bad match. Time to improve and fight at the Bernabeu. Things have always happened in this field and we can do it again. To the very end, ALWAYS!!!!!!"

Madrid have not won in their last three matches and will look to turn that around when they visit relegation candidates Alaves in La Liga on Sunday before they host Arsenal next Wednesday.
