- Scored free kick vs Arsenal
- 25th goal contribution this season
- Joins elite club with Haaland and Salah
WHAT HAPPENED?
Fernandes' brilliant free kick on the brink of half-time put Manchester United 1-0 up against Arsenal at Old Trafford, and catapulted the Red Devils talisman onto 12 goals and 13 assists for the 2024-25 season across all competitions. This is the third campaign in a row in which Fernandes has reached 25+ direct goal involvements, a milestone only two other players have reached for a Premier League club in the same period: Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland.

Fernandes' induction into this tiny group of prolific Premier League attackers underlines how much United have relied on the Portuguese in recent years. The 30-year-old has consistently performed to a high standard despite playing in some extremely mediocre Red Devils sides under managers like Ruben Amorim, Erik Ten Hag and Ralf Rangnick, and this attacking record proves it.
DID YOU KNOW?
This isn't the only record Fernandes has broken during his excellent spell at United; at the start of the 2020-21 season he became the quickest player to reach five goals and five assists in Premier League history (after just nine games), and in 2022 he became the first player to post an assist in six consecutive Champions League games for an English club.

Fernandes' fantastic attacking exploits are a rare silver lining for Amorim's United this season. While his team managed to secure a point against title-challengers Arsenal at Old Trafford, the result left them languishing in 14th place with just ten PL games left. It'll be an absolute miracle if United are able to mount a late surge for European qualification, leaving the door open for a potential Fernandes exit in the summer.
