Man Utd 'extremely disappointed' to miss out on £100m for Mason Greenwood as Barcelona eye cheap deal for in-form Marseille forward

The Red Devils opted to offload the 22-year-old forward during the summer transfer window of 2024. After seeing him impress on loan at La Liga side Getafe, United agreed to sell Greenwood to Ligue 1 outfit Marseille for £27 million ($35m).

He has made an immediate impact in France, registering five goals and an assist, and there is now talk of Barcelona expressing interest in the one-cap England international. They are ready to move quickly before Greenwood’s on-field stock rises even further.

According to GIVEMESPORT, key figures at Old Trafford are frustrated that the Premier League giants agreed to sell when they did. There is said to be an opinion shared by many in Manchester that Greenwood could become a player that demands a nine-figure transfer fee

While United will not be the ones to bank £100m ($131m) if Greenwood does ever move for such a sum, they do stand to benefit from any further transfer dealings. A sell-on clause that could be worth as much as 50 per cent was included in the terms that took the Red Devils academy graduate to Marseille.
