Lionel Messi to MISS the Florida derby: Injured Inter Miami superstar set to sit out Orlando City rivalry game

Per The Athletic, the Argentine will not travel with the Inter Miami squad to Orlando after he was ruled out of action due to a knee injury. Messi picked up the knock during the club's 3-2 win over CF Montreal last week.

Until now, the World Cup-winning Argentina captain had missed four games for the Herons in the current campaign with all four matches being played in March. In that period, the David Beckham-owned side did not fare too well as they lost twice, drew once and had just one win.

The 36-year-old has enjoyed a rich vein of form in his second season in MLS as he has already scored 10 goals and provided 12 assists in nine league appearances. He set an MLS record against the New York Red Bulls on May 5, becoming the first-ever player to notch five assists in a regular season game.

After facing their rivals on Thursday, Gerardo Martino's side will be next seen in action against DC United in a MLS clash on May 19.
