Leeds fans turning against Brenden Aaronson? USMNT star faces future questions in Premier League promotion push

The United States international was taken off at half-time during the Whites’ Championship clash with Queens Park Rangers. Leeds trailed that game 2-1 heading into the interval, with Aaronson unable to provide a creative attacking spark.

His withdrawal was greeted with enthusiasm by the travelling support in west London, with Yorkshire Post journalist Graham Smyth revealing as part of his in-game commentary: “Aaronson off, Gnonto on. Big, pointed cheer from the away end.”

More questions are now being asked of Aaronson’s future at Elland Road. He was blasted by Leeds followers for leaving on loan after the club suffered relegation out of the Premier League at the end of his debut campaign.

Aaronson has registered eight goals and two assists this season, but consistency has proved to be an issue. The 24-year-old’s commitment has never been in doubt, but he is considered to demand too much from himself, which can adversely impact his performance.

Leeds fans need to be won over once more, with the club pushing hard for promotion into the top-flight. They cannot afford any passengers on that journey, with Aaronson having eight more games this season in which to prove his worth and avoid any summer transfer talk.
