Jorginho signs Flamengo contract with Arsenal star set to join Brazilian club ahead of Club World Cup

Per Globo, Jorginho has signed a pre-contract with Flamengo ahead of his move to Brazil this summer. The Italian midfielder was set to become a free agent at the end of the season but is instead poised to move to Brazil, where he will sign a deal until 2028.

The 33-year-old arrived at the Emirates on an 18-month contract but saw that extended last summer. He has made a total of 78 appearances for the club and has seen his playing time diminish this term; he has made nine Premier League starts under Mikel Arteta in 2024-25.

Jorginho has recently been battling a chest injury but he captained the Gunners in his last appearance, a clash with Brentford in April. He has not won a trophy at the Gunners but he was triumphant at Euro 2020 with Italy.

Flamengo will face Tunis and Jorginho's former club Chelsea, while the remaining team is yet to be decided after Leon were removed from the competition. Leon are contesting their expulsion, with a verdict expected this week.
