'You didn’t listen' - Jermaine Jenas calls out TNT Sports host for Mo Salah comment during Liverpool's win against Ipswich

Despite being the overwhelming favourites, Liverpool found themselves on the back foot in the first half as Ipswich, freshly promoted to the top flight, played with energy and determination, managing to hold the Merseyside club at bay and even creating a few chances of their own. Salah, however, was one of the few bright spots in a sluggish first half, making incisive runs down the right flank and creating spaces that his teammates failed to exploit.

The game took a decisive turn after the break, with Liverpool finally finding their groove. Salah, central to this resurgence, first provided a key assist to Diogo Jota in the 60th minute, allowing Liverpool to break the deadlock. Just five minutes later, Salah doubled Liverpool’s advantage with a goal of his own, showcasing his predatory instincts in front of goal.

As the match progressed into its final stages, Jenas, who was on co-commentary duties, highlighted Salah's critical role in Liverpool's turnaround. He praised Salah for being the "one bright spark" in a first half where Liverpool had largely struggled. Moments later, Darren Fletcher echoed Jenas’ sentiments, remarking on Salah's influence in the match.

However, this repetition did not sit well with Jenas, who quickly interrupted Fletcher to point out that he had made the same observation just moments earlier. "You didn't listen to what I said, did you? I literally said that two seconds ago," Jenas quipped, his tone carrying a hint of frustration.

Fletcher caught off guard, apologised and explained that he had missed Jenas' comment because he was listening to the producer at the time. "Two things at once, Fletch! That's the job," Jenas joked, diffusing the situation with a touch of humour.

This match marked a significant milestone for Salah, as it was his 350th appearance for Liverpool across all competitions since joining the club in 2017. And with his goal, Salah became the first player in Premier League history to score nine goals on the opening day across multiple seasons. Additionally, his assist and goal brought his total contributions on opening day to 14, further cementing his legacy as one of the league's greatest ever.
