How Liverpool could use lucrative £300m kit deal with adidas to tie both Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk to new contracts

The Reds have revealed that they will severing ties with current suppliers Nike and returning to adidas from the 2025-26 campaign. It will be the third time in the club’s history, and the first since 2012, that the Premier League giants have sported the iconic three-stripe design on their shirts.

According to The Echo, Liverpool’s multi-year agreement with adidas is worth double the £30 million ($39m) a year that Nike are paying. Over the course of a five-year deal, the Reds could be pulling in £300m ($388m).

That cash injection has arrived at the best possible time for Liverpool, as they are seeing a number of notable contracts at Anfield run down. Egyptian talisman Salah, Dutch defender Van Dijk and home-grown full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold are all heading towards free agency in the summer of 2025.

The Reds now have more money to play with when it comes to extension talks. They are hoping to get deals done with Salah and Van Dijk, as Alexander-Arnold is linked with Real Madrid, with adidas keen to have as many superstars on board to help promote their new range of matchday and training wear.

They could be taking over branding for the Premier League champions, with Liverpool sat 15 points clear at the top of the table – having suffered just one defeat this season. They are also into the Carabao Cup final, with Newcastle the opponents at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
