    SATURDAY GAMES

PREMIER LEAGUE: CRYSTAL PALACE 2, SUNDERLAND 1

GOAL verdict: Even with the added challenge of Europa League fixtures, Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace have made a steady start, collecting five points. Sunderland have impressed as well, winning two of their first three matches, setting up what promises to be a competitive clash. Palace may hold the edge on paper, but the Black Cats have shown enough to suggest they could make this a far tighter contest.

PREMIER LEAGUE: BOURNEMOUTH 3, BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION 2

GOAL verdict: Three matches into the season, Bournemouth and Brighton find themselves in similar positions, though the Cherries hold the edge with two wins compared to the Seagulls’ lone victory. This sets up what should be a tight encounter, but Bournemouth’s defensive solidity gives them the upper hand. With Brighton managing only three goals despite an xG of 6.1, the Cherries look the likelier side to secure three points.

    SERIE A: JUVENTUS 2, INTER 1

GOAL verdict: Juventus have hit the ground running under Igor Tudor, winning both of their opening matches and carrying strong momentum into the weekend. Their next test comes against Inter, who opened with a dominant 5-0 win over Torino but stumbled unexpectedly against Udinese. The Nerazzurri come into this clash on uncertain footing, yet the stage is set for a fascinating showdown.

MLS: FC CINCINNATI 1, NASHVILLE SC 1

GOAL verdict: With six matches remaining, FC Cincinnati and Nashville SC are in second and fourth place, respectively. But recent form has cast some doubt. Nashville have struggled, losing five of their last six, while Cincinnati has two wins, a draw, and three losses in the same stretch. Both sides will be desperate to steady the ship.

MLS: LAFC 2, SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES 1

GOAL verdict: The Earthquakes’ inconsistency has cost them valuable points, leaving them chasing momentum, while LAFC stay firmly in the playoff hunt. Recent form highlights the contrast, with San Jose winless in their last three and the Black and Gold losing just once in their last four. Unless Bruce Arena can conjure something special, this could be a comfortable victory for the visitors.

    SUNDAY GAMES

PREMIER LEAGUE: LIVERPOOL 2, BURNLEY 0

GOAL verdict: Burnley’s return to the Premier League has been rough, with two losses from their first three matches. Liverpool, meanwhile, are flying high after three straight wins, capped by a statement victory over title rival Arsenal. The Reds look well poised to claim another comfortable win.

BUNDESLIGA: FC ST PAULI 1, FC AUGSBURG 1

GOAL verdict: The Bundesliga season is underway, with both FC St. Pauli and Augsburg exceeding expectations inside the league’s top eight. St. Pauli carry the stronger momentum, remaining unbeaten after two matches, while Augsburg’s narrow 3-2 loss to Bayern Munich highlighted both their resilience and vulnerability. With little separating the sides, a draw seems the most probable outcome.

PREMIER LEAGUE: MANCHESTER UNITED 2, MANCHESTER CITY 1

GOAL verdict: Manchester United may not be widely favored, but they’ve started the season stronger than their crosstown rivals. Man City have stumbled with two defeats in their first three matches, including consecutive losses to Brighton and Tottenham. United haven't been dazzling, but are in better stead. While Pep Guardiola’s side still have the quality to respond, current form leans in Ruben Amorim’s favor.
