<p>After becoming the all-time leading scorer in Women’s Super League history during her time with the Gunners, Miedema <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/lucy-bronze-vivianne-miedema-new-signings-2024-25-womens-super-league/bltb4cb1d287838b34a" target="_blank">decided to take on a new challenge in the summer of 2024</a>. She has not moved far, with life in north London being swapped for that in the North West.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>A first outing back in familiar surroundings was always going to be an emotional one, and Miedema admits that it was a struggle to control her emotions when lining up in front of a fan base that used to idolise her – with the 28-year-old turning from friend to foe.</p>

WHAT MIEDEMA SAID

<p>Miedema won the WSL title with Arsenal in 2018-19, along with three League Cups, and is hoping to get <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/man-city-women-season-preview-2024-25-vivianne-miedema-wsl-title/blt858cd0179b4e9035" target="_blank">back on the trophy trail during her debut campaign with City</a>. The 2024-25 season is now up and running, with everyone trying to wrestle a domestic crown away from defending champions Chelsea.</p>
