He told reporters: "One team being down to 10 men for 10 minutes, you know what it’s going to do to our game? It’s going to destroy it, mate. You’re going to have one team just sitting there trying to waste time for 10 minutes waiting for a guy to come on. Learn more Every other sport is trying to declutter. All we’re trying to do is go the other way for some bizarre reason."

Postecoglou is not the only manager to be against these plans, with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp saying it "didn't sound like a fantastic idea", and Newcastle manager Eddie Howe added he was "not a big fan". If ushered in, this would be a huge change in the game, right up there with when yellow and red cards were introduced at the 1970 World Cup in Mexico.
