Confirmation of Ruben Dias & Maya Jama romance? Man City star shares cryptic photo from New Year celebrations amid links to Love Island host – who has ruled out recoupling with Stormzy

The Portuguese defender is being linked to television host and radio DJ Jama after the pair were spotted dining together in Ibiza on New Year’s Eve. Their paths had previously crossed at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Manchester.

A source has told The Sun of Dias and Jama supposedly “secretly dating for a month”: “Maya and Ruben swapped details at the EMAs and have chatted since, but things went up a gear in early December. When Ruben got injured and had to miss the congested new year fixtures, he jumped at the chance to see in 2025 with Maya in Spain. Spending New Year's Eve together was a real step forward in their relationship. They get on really well and obviously make a gorgeous couple, but it's early days.”

Neither Dias nor Jama have made a public statement on their reported relationship, but the City centre-half has shared an image from his New Year celebrations that appears to show him cosying up with his new beau as they watched the Mediterranean sunset.

Jama has been single since splitting from rap star Stormzy in July 2024 and has ruled out a recoupling there as they are now “in this friendship zone”. She added to The Guardian of her hopes for the future, having previously stated that she wants her next partner to be marriage material: “I also more want a family than just want children. Because of the way I was raised and it being all over the place, I’m very conscious that if I’m going to start a family I want it to be with the right person. I want it to be one that lasts for ever. But yeah, I do imagine myself with kids one day.”

Jama has also conceded that anybody she dates is going to “be a thing at the moment”, given her celebrity status, and it remains to be seen if the reports of pairing up with 27-year-old Dias will be officially addressed at some stage.
