'It all comes down to feeling loved' - Pep Guardiola's daughter Maria releases emotional interview after Man City boss' shock split from her mother Cristina

Guardiola and wife Cristina Serra are splitting amicably after 30 years of marriage that saw them raise three children: Maria, Marius and Valentina. Cristina reportedly relocated back to Barcelona in 2019, to work on the family's clothing business, and has since split her time between Catalunya and Manchester. The long-distance relationship and Guardiola's "workaholic" nature have been cited as reasons for the shock break-up.

Guardiola is now set to move his belongings out of the Barcelona house he shares with Cristina, a home he visited regularly on short breaks from Manchester. Daughter Maria has spoken about her parents after news of the split broke and the values they instilled in their children.

She toldVanity Fair Spain: "My parents have always advised me to find what I am passionate about. They encourage me to try new things, to accept failure and to keep searching until I find my calling, because when I do, full dedication will come naturally. They also remind me that the most important thing in life is to love and be loved. In the end it all comes down to feeling loved. Even in situations where we feel out of place, they tell me to listen carefully to others, there is always something valuable to learn from each person we meet.”

Guardiola's marital issues come during a turbulent season for the Manchester City manager. The 53-year-old has seen his team endure a dramatic slump in form to drop down to sixth place in the Premier League table. There are also more problems potentially on the way as the Cityzens are set to learn the verdict of their FFP trial before the end of the season.
