WHAT HAPPENED?
Ted Lasso star Brendan Hunt - who plays Coach Beard in the show - announced the decision via a hilarious award ceremony-themed video that was posted on social media platform X. The other nominees for the award were Folarin Balogun, Ricardo Pepi, Matt Turner and Yunus Musah.
WHAT PULISIC SAID TO DONOVAN
Matching the record of a USMNT legend, the Hershey-born winger said: "You guys inspired me, your generation really set the tone for me, I watched and wanted to do exactly what you were doing so, to be in this position, it doesn't feel real, but, I'm grateful for this opportunity and of course - like you did - I love representing the U.S. so I'm really proud."

WHAT PULISIC SAID ABOUT WINNING THE AWARD
“It’s an honor to win this award again for the fourth time,” Pulisic said. “It was an incredible season for me. I always enjoy playing with the National Team and winning more trophies with the National Team. Of course, coming here to AC Milan, it’s been just a really exciting year. I’ve enjoyed it so much, so I’m really grateful to win an award like this. Any of the nominees could have won it, and not even just those guys, names outside of that as well who have been putting in such strong performances on the club level and with the National Team. I’m really proud of how far this group has come and looking forward to some really big events coming up in the next years.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Tying Donovan's record at age 25 is just another reason why many consider Pulisic to be the best talent that the USA has ever developed. In 2023, Pulisic net six goals and added three assists in just eight appearances for the USMNT - a stupendous return in limited playing time, while also helping lead the USA to a second-straight Concacaf Nations League title.
On the horizon for 2024 is another chance to make it three-straight Concacaf Nations League titles, but the big opportunity ahead is 2024 Copa America. In the summer feature event, the USMNT will have a chance to prove themselves against South America's best, beginning with a group stage that features heavyweight opposition Uruguay.
