WHAT HAPPENED?
Chelsea finalised the signing of Paez from Ecuadorian club Independiente del Valle in 2023. The two clubs agreed that the player will travel to London at the end of the 2024-25 campaign when he turns 18. Last week, L’Equipe reported that the Blues are unlikely to include the youngster in their first team at the moment and as a result, they are planning to send the player out on loan to sister club Strasbourg in Ligue 1.

Now, Teradeportes are claiming that Paez's representatives have refuted speculation about the Ecuadorian being sent out on loan and report that the teenager is all set to travel with Enzo Maresca's squad to the United States for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. The report further adds that for now, Paez will simply train with the west London side, but Maresca could consider including him in the final squad for the competition.

The Premier League giants reportedly beat Borussia Dortmund in the race to sign Pez in 2023 as they paid a fee in the region of €20million (£17.2m) to land the youngster from his boyhood club.
