Blockbuster Copa del Rey draw! Real Madrid & Jude Bellingham set to face city rivals Atletico Madrid in last 16

The draw for the last 16 of the 2023-24 Copa del Rey has been made and delivered a mouth-watering tie as Real Madrid will take on Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium. Los Blancos are the current holders and will aim to continue the defence of their trophy agains their city rivals. Elsewhere, Barcelona have been drawn against third division side Unionistas de Salamanca.

The draw means the competition will lose one of its biggest hitters before the quarter-final stage. It's not the only all La Liga tie either. Elsewhere, Getafe will take on Sevilla, Osasuna will face Real Sociedad, Valencia play Celta and Athletic Club host Alaves. La Liga high-flyers Girona have been drawn against Rayo Vallecano.

Real Madrid have progressed from eight of their last 12 Copa del Rey ties against Atlético Madrid (excluding finals), including last season's 3-1 victory at the Santiago Bernabéu in the quarter-finals.

Real Madrid and Atletico are due to meet next time out in the semi-finals of the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia. The winners of the tie will play either Barcelona or Osasuna in the final. Meanwhile, the ties for the last 16 of the Copa del Rey will take place between January 16-18.
