  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Barca spent a potential total fee of £51 million ($67m) bringing Spain international Olmo to the club from RB Leipzig in the summer, but were only able to register him for the rest of 2024 due to financial uncertainty. The same applies to Pau Victor, whose contract only has him registered until the end of December. According to Sport,Barca are desperate to keep Olmo and Victor playing for the club from January onward, and they've considered pulling various different levers to ensure they can raise €200m (£166m/$211m) to resolve the situation and possibly fund other transfers.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The report adds that in order to raise funds, the Catalan outfit are relying on "the advance marketing of special VIP seats in the new Camp Nou for a period of around 20 years." Determined to keep hold of their most prized players, Barca began looking at alternative ways of generating cash and landed on this VIP seat sale as a potential solution. Several companies are reputedly interested in buying the entire package, which would alleviate plenty of the financial concerns at Camp Nou. However, a final deal is yet to be made.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

It was recently revealed that Barcelona's return to Camp Nou would be delayed until February 2025, with the club citing UEFA regulations as a key reason why they did not hit their initial target of a November 2024 return. Barca's executives will be hoping that their proposed VIP seat sale can be completed long before that first match back at their home ground takes place.

WHAT NEXT FOR OLMO & VICTOR?

If Barcelona aren't able to find the funds to register the pair for the second half of the 2024-25 season, it will mean that the duo have only four games left this campaign, which would be a huge blow for Hansi Flick. The next one sees them travel to Andalusia to face Real Betis on Saturday, 7 December.
