Arsenal told Nico Williams eye-watering wage demands as Athletic Club star expects similar salary to top earners Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka

According to The Telegraph, the 22-year-old's representatives would expect him to be earning a similar amount at Arsenal to Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka - all of whom are said to receive around £250,000 a week.

Williams was linked with Arsenal and Barcelona last year but ultimately snubbed their interest. However, the Gunners are renewing their efforts to sign the speedy winger, who reportedly has a €60 million (£50m) release clause. The north London team have tried to reduce their wage bill in recent years but it seems that would not be possible if they signed Williams.

The report states that the Euro 2024 winner is on significantly more than £100,000 a week after tax at Athletic, so this would be a big jump up for the youngster if he joined Arsenal.

In the meantime, Williams could feature for the Basque outfit on Sunday in their next La Liga game away at Villarreal.
