  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Lehmann was fined £112,000 by a court in Munich after being found guilty of property damage and attempted fraud. The former goalkeeper was initially handed a 10-month suspended prison sentence and fined more than £350,000 after he attacked a neighbour's garage with a chainsaw in Bavaria. However, Lehmann's lawyers managed to reach a deal with prosecutors before the trial resumed, according to The Sun.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The 54-year-old cut through the beams of his neighbour's property at Lake Starnberg as he believed it obstructed his view. Lehmann's case also involved incidents at Munich Airport car park, with the former goalkeeper accused of avoiding paying fees by driving his car bumper to bumper.

  • WHAT WAS SAID

Lehmann's legal representative Florian Ufer told German media: "Mr Lehmann accepts responsibility. He has come to an agreement with his neighbour. The parking fees have been paid."

Lehmann’s legal team also read out a statement outside court: "Today’s decision is a very good result. The previous district court verdict was excessive, as today’s reduction of the fine by around 70 per cent clearly shows."
