With the Spanish season over bar one last game for Los Blancos, Goal looks at the players who look likely to be surplus to requirements this summer

Changes lie ahead at Barcelona and Real Madrid this summer. And even though this season could end up being a successful one for both clubs, there has also been an element of frustration for the two teams in 2017-18.

Barca claimed a domestic double, comfortably winning La Liga and also adding the Copa del Rey under Ernesto Valverde. However, the Champions League exit in the quarter-finals against Roma left a sour taste for the players and the fans.

Madrid, meanwhile, can claim the European trophy for a third successive season by beating Liverpool in Kiev on Saturday and that would represent a historic achievement. In La Liga and in the Copa, though, they were not good enough in 2017-18, finishing third in the Primera Division and losing out to Leganes in the cup.

With transfer targets being identified, there will also be departures and Goal looks at the players from both teams who could be leaving in the summer...

ACHRAF

As back-up to Dani Carvajal, young right-back Achraf Hakimi has featured much more than expected this season.

Following an injury to the Spain defender, Achraf was given his chance by Zidane and has played 17 times for Los Blancos in all competitions, scoring two goals.

However, he is still raw and has made mistakes. And with Carvajal out injured, Zidane preferred to play winger Lucas Vazquez at right-back against Bayern Munich.

The 19-year-old now looks set to leave Real this summer, probably in a loan move or with a buy-back option, with Betis interested in the Morocco international.

PACO ALCACER

The Spain striker is in his second season at Barcelona and, as expected, life at the Catalan club has been fairly difficult so far for the former Valencia forward.

A €30 million signing in the summer of 2016, Alcacer joined as back-up to the MSN trident when a number of others refused that secondary role.

Paco Alcacer Barcelona

Despite a lack of playing time, the 24-year-old has scored 15 times in 51 appearances (many as substitute) since his arrival and is popular with the fans.

But with Barca looking to bring in Antoine Griezmann or another forward this summer, he is set to make way. Villarreal and Celta Vigo are interested, while the player himself has said he would consider a return to his hometown club Valencia.

GARETH BALE

Gareth Bale's time at Real Madrid could be coming to an end after five seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Welsh winger, a €100m signing from Tottenham in the summer of 2013, is a three-time Champions League winner with Los Blancos, but opportunities have been few and far between in the big games recently.

Bale was hauled off at half-time against Juventus in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and did not start either game in the semi-final tie versus Bayern Munich.

He has featured more recently and is in contention for a starting spot in Kiev, but is likely to be allowed to leave in the summer as Madrid look to bring in another forward, with Manchester United, Bayern and former club Tottenham all possible destinations.

KIKO CASILLA

It is common knowledge that Real Madrid are in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer, but the man to make way will not be Keylor Navas.

Instead, second-choice goalkeeper Kiko Casilla will be allowed to leave as Los Blancos look for a shot-stopper who can compete for a starting spot with the Costa Rican.

Deportivo La Coruna were interested, but a move for the player is unlikely after the Galicians were relegated to Segunda last month. Newcastle United have been tracking the 31-year-old, while Getafe are also interested.

DANI CEBALLOS

Real Madrid beat a number of Europe's elite clubs to the signing of Dani Ceballos last summer, but the move has not really worked out for the midfielder.

Ceballos has made just 22 appearances this term, mostly as a substitute, scoring two goals. He could be available this summer on loan.

Betis are keen to bring back their former player, while Roma are also interested in signing the Spanish Under-21 international, who has also been linked with Liverpool.

However, the player is still eager to triumph at Real in the long term and a permanent transfer seems unlikely at this stage.

OUSMANE DEMBELE

Ousmane Dembele has endured a difficult debut season at Barcelona since signing for an initial €105m last summer.

The French forward has had two spells out through injury and still needs to adapt to his new team, defensive work in particular.

Ousmane Dembele Barcelona

His positive performances towards the end of the season should be enough to see him stay and while there is no question of a permanent transfer, some senior figures at Barca would be prepared to allow the player to leave on loan this summer.

The 21-year-old is waiting to see whether Barca will sign Antoine Griezmann, but is confident in his own ability and is keen to triumph at Camp Nou. If he were allowed to leave on loan, though, a host of clubs would be interested in his signing.

Liverpool would be the frontrunners because Barca still owe the Reds a lot of money from the Philippe Coutinho deal and Jurgen Klopp has already said he would be interested.

ANDRE GOMES

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde is prepared to keep Andre Gomes, but the Portuguese midfielder has had a torrid time since signing for Barcelona in 2016 and could end up moving on this summer.

Gomes arrived as a European champion with Portugal, but his poor performances for the Catalan club have seen him left out of his national side's squad for the World Cup in Russia and Barca will listen to offers for the 24-year-old.

Gomes, who revealed earlier this season that boos from fans had left him depressed and afraid of going out, was given a warm reception after at the Camp Nou after those admissions, but he is nowhere near a starting spot in the first-choice XI.

Tottenham have been interested in the player for some time, while Juventus have also been linked.

ANDRES INIESTA

Andres Iniesta is definitely leaving Barcelona this summer and Sunday's game against Real Sociedad at Camp Nou was his last for the Catalan club.

The 34-year-old announced his departure in an emotional press conference last month and was expected to move to China, although his destination is now going to be Vissel Kobe in Japan.

Iniesta, who was 34 earlier this month, had signed a "lifetime" contract at Barca as recently as October, but is bringing his time at the Catalan club to an end this summer and will sign off with 32 trophies including this season's La Liga and Copa del Rey titles.

MARCOS LLORENTE

Marcos Llorente impressed last season at Alaves and was brought back to Real Madrid in the summer from that loan spell as a deputy to Casemiro.

However, Zidane has more often than not used Mateo Kovacic in that role and opportunities have been few and far between for the 23-year-old, who now looks set to leave either on loan or in a permanent deal this summer.

Marcos Llorente Real Madrid

A number of clubs in La Liga, including Betis, Sevilla and Real Sociedad, are tracking the midfielder, who is likely to have the final say on his future.

BORJA MAYORAL

Borja Mayoral has been back-up to Karim Benzema this season following the summer sales of Alvaro Morata to Chelsea and Mariano to Lyon.

However, the young Spanish striker has found opportunities hard to come by despite the French forward's poor form and has scored only seven goals in 24 appearances, with three of those coming in the Copa del Rey.

Borja Mayoral Real Madrid

Mayoral, who is still only 21, could be set for another spell out on loan after spending the 2016-17 season at Wolfsburg. Getafe and Betis would be interested, but a move to Malaga is unlikely after their relegation to Spain's second tier.

YERRY MINA

Yerry Mina's disastrous display in the 5-4 loss at Levante recently saw the Colombian centre-back come in for some severe criticism.

The 23-year-old was all at sea as Barca lost their unbeaten record in La Liga and he still needs to adapt to life in the Primera Division, despite his obvious attributes.

Yerry Mina Barcelona

That could see Mina move on loan this summer to gain some much-needed experience elsewhere, with Betis one option for the South American defender.

DENIS SUAREZ

Denis Suarez disappeared from most of Barcelona's squads in the middle of the season and although he has featured more and impressed in recent times, the attacking midfielder could leave the Catalan club this summer.

With just 27 appearances this season and three goals, the 24-year-old has not stepped up as hoped since returning to Camp Nou in 2016, although his improved performances towards the end of the campaign could earn him another chance.

Valencia are weighing up a move for Denis this summer, while former clubs Sevilla and Villarreal could also be interested.

THOMAS VERMAELEN

The Belgian has surprised many at Barca this season with his positive performances after several frustrating campaigns at Camp Nou.

However, he remains injury prone and has just one year left on his contract. If the Catalans can bring in another centre-back this summer, the 32-year-old should leave, although he may be kept for one final season if Yerry Mina is sent out on loan.

Torino and Galatasaray have been tracking the Belgium centre-back, who is also being considered by several clubs in the Premier League.

ALEIX VIDAL

Originally signed as a right-back, Aleix Vidal is not trusted by Barca boss Ernesto Valverde in that position and as a forward, he is some way down the list at Barcelona.

Although surprisingly used as a substitute in the 1-1 draw at Chelsea in the Champions league last 16 instead of summer signing Ousmane Dembele, he is behind the French forward now and is not needed at the Catalan club next season.

A return to Sevilla is possible, while the man who took him to the Andalusian club, Monchi, could sign the player for Roma this summer.
