Washington Huskies team news

Sophomore signal-caller Demond Williams Jr. has come out firing to start the year. Through five outings, he’s connected on 96 of 131 throws (73.3%) for 1,226 yards and eight touchdowns, tossing just one interception. He’s also been a factor with his legs, racking up 246 yards and a pair of scores on 61 carries. In last week’s dramatic comeback win over Maryland, Williams went 28-of-41 (68.3%) for 275 yards, two touchdowns, and one pick.

Washington’s ground game is fueled by senior running back Jonah Coleman. He’s been a force, tallying 474 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns on 82 attempts, averaging a healthy 5.8 yards per carry. He’s also made noise in the passing game with 19 catches for 223 yards and another score. His standout effort came in the 70-10 blowout of UC-Davis on Sept. 6, where he posted 111 yards and five touchdowns on just 15 carries.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights team news

On the Rutgers side, senior quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis is settling into his second season with the program after transferring from Minnesota. He’s completed 107 of 159 passes (67.3%) for 1,399 yards with nine touchdowns and two interceptions, while also adding two rushing scores. In last week’s defeat to the Gophers, he finished 21-of-34 (61.8%) for 249 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

Sophomore running back Antwan Raymond has also been a major contributor for the Scarlet Knights. In five games, he’s handled 87 carries for 471 yards (5.4 per attempt) and punched in nine touchdowns. He’s chipped in through the air as well with four catches for 42 yards, highlighted by a 17-yard grab. Against Minnesota, Raymond delivered his most explosive outing yet with 161 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries.
