With both Zane Flores and Hauss Hejny sidelined, the Cowboys had to rely on converted wideout Sam Jackson V at quarterback. The rookie went 7-of-16 for 84 yards and threw an interception in his first career start, though Noah Walters provided a spark on the final drive, punching in a score. Overall, Oklahoma State managed a paltry 228 total yards, including just 45 on the ground.
Defensively, the Cowboys fared no better. Houston rolled up 485 total yards, 316 through the air, while racking up 27 first downs — more than twice what Oklahoma State could muster. Linebacker Mordecai McDaniel was a lone bright spot, pacing the team with 13 tackles, but the unit as a whole struggled to find any consistency.
Statistically, it’s been a long season for the Cowboys. They rank 127th nationally in points per game, 98th in rushing, and 123rd in passing. Red zone efficiency sits at 54th on offense and 106th on defense, while their defense is a sieve overall — 134th in scoring defense, 103rd against the run, and 135th versus the pass. They manage just 83 sacks per game and sit near the bottom in turnover margin and penalty yards allowed.

Sorsby finished with 191 yards through the air and, notably, didn’t turn the ball over — marking his fifth consecutive turnover-free outing. Caldwell added three catches for 58 yards overall, showcasing his reliability in clutch spots. Cincinnati’s offense churned out 306 total yards, averaging a solid 6.4 yards per play, though the Bearcats struggled on third down, converting just 2-of-9 attempts.
The defense, as usual, carried its weight — and then some. Even after being on the field nearly twice as long as UCF, the Bearcats’ unit held firm. They gave up 413 yards across 90 snaps but limited the Knights to just 4.2 yards per play. The front seven made their presence felt with five tackles for loss, including two sacks. Safety Tre Gola-Callard led the team with nine tackles, while fellow safety Christian Harrison blanketed the secondary with three pass breakups, keeping the back end airtight.
