Everton will be out to keep their early-season momentum rolling when Aston Villa visit Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Toffees have collected six points from their first three outings to climb into fifth, while Villa languish near the foot of the table with just a single point to their name.
After a shaky opening defeat away at Leeds, some feared Everton might stumble out of the blocks. Instead, David Moyes’ men have responded in style, stringing together back-to-back league wins. They christened their new home with a 2-0 triumph over Brighton, before heading into the international break on a high with a hard-fought victory at Molineux against Wolves.
Villa, in contrast, are still trying to find their rhythm. An opening-day stalemate with Newcastle offered a solid enough platform, but successive defeats to Brentford and Crystal Palace have raised concerns. In both matches, the Villans drew blanks in front of goal, a worrying trend Unai Emery will be desperate to reverse.

Everton team news
Jarrad Branthwaite is expected to sit out for Everton, while Vitaliy Mykolenko returned early from international duty, nursing a fresh issue. Adam Aznou may also miss out, which could once again push James Garner into an improvised left-back role. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall might be asked to operate deeper in midfield, with youngster Tyler Dibling in line for a full debut if Jack Grealish is moved centrally. Up top, Thierno Barry could be handed the start given Beto’s heavy international travel schedule.
Aston Villa team news
For Villa, fitness concerns continue to mount. Amadou Onana and Boubacar Kamara are unlikely to feature, while Matty Cash faces a race against time to recover. Both Andres Garcia and former Everton midfielder Ross Barkley are also sidelined, though there could be a silver lining with new signing Harvey Elliott tipped for his first appearance in claret and blue.
